Obituary of Georgiana Wolfe

Georgiana “Jody” Wolfe April 23, 1922 - April 11, 2014 Jody was born in Portland, Oregon to George and Mabel Dennis. She grew up in the South East part of town on 37th and Mill Street, where she lived until meeting her future husband Ralph Curtis Wolfe. Jody and Curt married in 1950 and lived in a home they built in North East Portland until 1968 when they built a new home in mid Multnomah County. After Curt’s passing in 2000 Jody remained in the home she and Curt shared until 2009 when she moved to Cherry Wood Village. Her only regret on moving to Cherry Wood Village was that she hadn’t made the move sooner. Jody attended Sunnyside Grade School, Girls Polytechnic High School and Northwestern School of Commerce. After school and throughout World War ll she worked at a U.S. Army Recruiting and Induction Station and Commercial Iron works. Following the war she was employed by Rodger’s Insurance Agency. After she and Curt were married, Jody continued with her career, spending 10 years with Erland Accounting Service and 20 years employed by the Central Pacific Conference of the United Church of Christ, retiring in 1984. Jody considered her years at the Central Council to be the highlight of her working career and stayed in contact with many of her former co-workers. Jody and Curt had always enjoyed their time traveling. After retiring they toured the United States extensively in their motor home, along with their dogs, their constant companions. In 1991 Jody and Curt purchased a home in Indio California and became snowbirds, where she volunteered as the editor of their community newsletter. Jody continued to snowbird after Curt’s passing until selling their Indio home in 2003. Once Jody returned to Portland as a full time resident she continued her career as a volunteer at Meals on Wheels, the Adventist Medical Center, where she surpassed the 1,500 hour mark and at Cherry Wood Village. Two things that were very important to Jody were her family heritage and her faith. Jody’s ancestors’ include great grandparents who were members of the Stuart-Boylen wagon train. These great grandparents gave birth to Jody’s grandmother, Margaret, in 1869 on the Barlow Pass Trail as the wagon train made it’s way to Oregon City. Another great grandfather, Zachariah Wood, was a Civil War veteran by the age of 17 and is laid to rest in a small cemetery outside Seaside, Oregon. Jody and Curt were founding members of the Woodland Park Baptist Church. Jody volunteered her secretarial and office managerial skills during the construction of the church, while Curt, a journeyman carpenter, helped construct the building. Jody was an active and involved member of the Woodland Park Congregation for over 60 years. Service Information
