Obituary of Eugene A. Meucci

Eugene (Gene) Meucci, a longtime resident of Portland passed away May 10th. Gene was born in the logging town of Raymond Washington to Bruno and Savina Meucci on June 17, 1923. The family moved to Portland where Gene and his twin brother Ray attended St Mary’s home for boys elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School in Los Angeles. Gene enlisted in the Army in 1942, served in both North Africa and the South Pacific, and was honorably discharged in February 1946. After, serving his country Gene returned to Los Angeles where he married Jane Oliphant on July 21, 1946. They moved to Portland where they started their family. They also live in Sacramento and Medford, before moving back to Portland. Gene worked for Langendorf Bakery, Carling Brewing Company, and the Al Guisti Wine Company, retiring in 1988. Gene enjoyed golf, playing cards, and had a love for dancing. Gene was a long time member at Riverside Golf and Country Club where he spent many happy days. Gene was preceded in death by his sister Vera, and is survived by his twin brother Raymond, his sister Anna Marie, 4 children Wayne (Jane), Gene (Julie), Diane (Steve), Robert (Wendy), 5 grandchildren, Patrick (Christine), Scott (Brianne), Amy, Elizabeth, Colin, and 5 great grandchildren Jalen, Kyle, Olivia, Elora and Graham. Funeral services will be held at St Philip Neri Catholic Church May 21st. A Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:30 followed by a funeral mass at 11:00.
