Obituary of Lucinda F. Roberti

LUCINDA ‘CINDY’ FRANCES ROBERTI March 16, 1928 – May 23, 2014 Our dear mother Cindy died on Friday, May 23, 2014, surrounded by her loving family as they sang her into heaven. Cindy persevered through years of memory decline and fell victim to the ‘long goodbye’ associated with Alzheimer’s. Cindy Davidson was born in Alder, Washington on March 16, 1928 to Julia and Harry Davidson. She grew up during the Great Depression. The family later moved to Oregon settling on a farm in Redland. One of seven siblings, she had four brothers: Terry, Ben, Woody & Bill Kirmse, and two sisters: Harriet “Miki” and Julia Davidson. Her mother and father played guitar and fiddle and taught Cindy and her sisters to sing and dance. The trio tapped and sang at different engagements, including for the Mayor of Oregon City and the Governor of Washington. Her years of dance earned her the nickname “Legs Davidson” in high school. Cindy met the love of her life, Dominic Roberti, at a dance in Watkins Park. The story goes…”he saw her legs from behind and decided to ask her to dance, and when she turned around the rest was history.” They married two months later on September 16, 1945 and celebrated 59 years together until Dad died in October 2004. They lived and raised their family in the Portland Eastmoreland neighborhood. A dashing couple, they were dubbed “Gramma Cool and the Silver Fox,” by their grandchildren. Our mom was artistic and talented in many areas. She tailored for several households in her neighborhood, painted, gardened and was an amazing bridge player. Mom had a passion for antiquing, loved Chinese food and was an avid Blazer fan. She was also an animal lover and always had her dogs close by her side. She enjoyed trips to the beach and Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren who were her precious pearls. She had strong opinions on most subjects and loved sharing them. Mom is survived by her four children: Joanne Barstad (Dennis), Candice Ogborn (Pat), Greg Roberti (Cindy), Gary Roberti, her 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception in the parish hall. A private interment will be held at a later date. You may sign the guestbook here on the Wilhelm Portland Memorial website. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date.
