Obituary of Cecelia E. Cheff

Cecelia Eliza (Halseth) Cheff Cecelia Eliza (Halseth) Cheff, 99, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at her Portland home with family by her side. Cecelia was born April 3, 1919 in Glasgow, Montana to Hugh and Lucinda Shepard. While a young child her family moved to Ronan, Montana; where she was raised. She was the eldest of 8 children. On August 31st, 1950 Cecelia married Melvin Halseth. They lived in Portland, Oregon where they raised 3 children, Linda, Larry, and Dennis. Her husband Melvin, of 49 years, passed away in 1999. In 2010 at the age of 91, she reconnected with a childhood friend Floyd Cheff, through her brother Don. At the age of 91 she moved to Missoula, Montana where Cecelia and Floyd were married in 2011. Floyd passed away in 2014. Cecelia is survived by her children, Linda (Michael) Caldwell, Larry Halseth, Dennis (Xiaoyin) Halseth; 3 grandchildren Rian, Robert, and Sara; 2 great grandchildren, Henry and William; brothers Ted and Glenn, sisters Lillian and Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband’s Melvin and Floyd; brothers Bud, Don, and Sister Shirley. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am Friday, May 25, 2018 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon. Recitation of Rosary will precede the Mass at 10:30am. Private Interment will be at 11:00am on Tuesday May 29th, 2018 at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Mausoleum. Family suggests Remembrances to St. Vincent De Paul.
