Obituary of Will Thomas Naugle

Spc Will Thomas Naugle—son, brother, friend, solider, and avid gamer—left us on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Born on March 15, 1990, Will was the youngest child of Michael and Mary Naugle. He joined the Boy Scouts as a young boy, continuing to work with the program throughout his life. He enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, rafting and working with youth at Boy Scout camps. Will served in the Oregon National Guard in 2010 -2016 as a combat medic, deploying to Afghanistan 2014-2015. Will once said in regards to his time as a medic that the greatest honor he had was when the men he served as medic called him “Doc”. In June 2016 Will enlisted with the US Army Reserves as part of the 364 Civil Affairs unit based out of Camp Withycombe. Will was proud to have followed his father and grandfathers into military service. Will was the type of person that you are lucky to call brother, son, cousin, nephew, friend. He was always willing to help those around him. Will had his father’s adventurous soul; he had looked forward to seeing new places with future military deployments and had plans to travel to China and Thailand. Will had a dry, quirky sense of humor and a humble sense of self. He would always slide out of any trouble he got into with a sheepish grin and a quick apology. While often described as dependable, reliable and positive, Will, like many of our veterans had struggles with depression, which he battled for as long as he could. He is survived by his mother, Mary Naugle; his older sister, Julie (Jason); his older brothers, David (Crystal) and James; his nieces Cheyenne, Gwendolynn, Brenna and Jordan, his nephew Lucas. He is predeceased by his father Michael Naugle. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 6:00 p.m. New Hope Church 11731 SE Stevens Rd, Happy Valley, OR 97086 All are welcome.
