Sarah Lewis

Obituary of Sarah A. Lewis

Sarah, or Sally as she was known in her younger years "caught the last train for the coast" early Sunday morning, 7/10/2022. Sarah passed at home of natural causes with her loving husband David and her kitty, Zeke by her side. Sarah lived a full and happy life. For the most part Sarah was a single mom and she worked very hard to keep 3 kids well dressed and fed. Sarah chose to be single for all the years her kids were little...just for kid safety and her own piece of mind. Sarah was extremely successful as a Jafra Consultant. Before she changed her career, she became a District Manager and had assembled a team of very motivated women, who worked as hard as she did. Later, Sarah graduated from the Executive Institute of Cosmetology as an Aesthetician and Nail Technician. She was very successful in the beauty industry and made hundreds of friends. For a while many of Sarah's nail clients were the female impersonators who worked downtown at Darcel V, which is an iconic bar and nightclub in Portland, OR. Now, that's a fun crowd!!! After being in beauty and sales for over a decade, Sarah was ready for a change, and she started bartending. This is where her super-powers really shined and in no time at all, Sarah had a whole building full of "her" regulars. She could make any little establishment "the place to be". She was a Master-Class people person! Sarah had a wonderful sense of humor and one of the biggest smiles you ever saw. She also gave the best hugs!! There was nowhere in Portland to get a hug like the one you could go get from Sarah. During the bartending years is when Sarah met and married David Spencer formerly of Colorado. The two of them fell madly in love and were inseparable over the next 25-30 years. Sarah is survived by her husband David, her two sisters Kathy and Sissy, her brother Michael and all of their families, which she loved very much. Sarah's three children, (all living); Lonnie Jo, Miquel Dawn and Steve all are from Portland, originally. Sarah is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Every single one, a treasure to her. She never ran low on love, and she always made sure to let her people know how important they were in her life. She will be missed, but her spirit is bright, and she will always have a presence in this dimension. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Marjorie. Her two brothers Sonny and Shane, her niece Brandie, her nephew Jeremy and her granddaughter Audrey. Heaven had one heck of a reunion last week! Sarah's, family will be at Sellwood Community House on August 13 to celebrate her life. 1436 SE Spokane St. Portland 97202. All friends are welcome to join us and share memories. 12:30-2:30. This celebration is a potluck, so please bring something to share. The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, The figure that she carries, Or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman Must be seen from her eyes, Because that is the doorway to her heart, The place where love resides. The beauty of a woman Is not a facial mole, But true beauty in a woman Is reflected in her soul It is the caring she lovingly gives, The passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman with passing years---- Only grows and grows.
