Obituary of Dorothy Leone Struznik

Dorothy was born Dorothy Leone Gord on December 10, 1920 in Eagle Bend, Minn. to parents Alfred Martin Gord and Sallie Gord (Baird). She passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022 in Portland, Oregon at age 101 from old age and failing health. As a young girl, Dorothy’s family moved from Minnesota to a small farming community near Bode, Iowa in North Central Iowa. There she lived with her parents, three brothers and two sisters until her mid 20’s when she decided to move west to a milder climate with her friend Doris where they settled in Portland, Ore. Within two years, Dorothy met and married William Eugene Struznik on September 25, 1948. They had three children Sally, Robert and Judy, and were happily married until William’s death in October 1995. Dorothy continued to live in the family home in North Portland until 2017 when she moved to Assumption Village, an assisted living community in North Portland where she resided until her death. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband William Struznik, parents Alfred and Sallie Gord, and her brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughters Sally Bertsch (Craig) of Vancouver, Wash., and Judy Linton (Phil) of St. Helens, Ore., son Robert Struznik (Dianna) of Lake Oswego, Ore., granddaughters Heather Struznik-Ginnings (Jeremy) of Warrensburg, Missouri., and Nicole Snider (Andy) of Vancouver, Wash., and grandsons Davin Rue, of Portland, Ore., Justin Struznik of Vacaville, Calif., Bryan Dixon of Chicago, Ill., Matthew Bertsch (Jenna) of Vancouver, Wash., and Adam Bertsch (Liz) of Washougal, Wash., along with 9 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was buried alongside her husband William at Finley-Sunset Hills Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Upon Dorothy’s request, no funeral service was held.
