Obituary of Acey Andre Stewart

The world was gifted with Acey Andre Lovett on June 14, 1962, the tenth of eleven children born to Acey and Gertha Lovett in Tacoma Washington. On Saturday June 12, 2021, our beloved Acey transitioned from this life to next after a short, but courageous battle with Covid-19. Acey (who also was called Andre) grew up in Tacoma and attended McCarver Elementary, Hunt Junior High School, Stadium High, and Bellarmine Preparatory School. At Stadium, Acey fell in love with tennis and pickleball. He excelled in both and competed locally and even won a few championships. After graduation, Acey built a successful career in the real estate title insurance industry in both Tacoma and Seattle. He later moved to Portland Oregon and worked at the Oregonian newspaper and the United States Postal Service. Acey also enjoyed biking, cooking, a drink of fine aged whiskey, listening to the sounds of Patti LaBelle and gospel music. Whether it be fun, work, or fitness, Andre gave his all. He enjoyed sharing stories about his adventures with his colleagues. He never missed an opportunity to have a conversation with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, and would conclude the conversation with his words of encouragement and wisdom. His motto was “Stuff happens, life goes on, so get on with it”! And live he did! Time and distance never diminished the love that Acey had for his family and his family had for him. He had a gift of caring that made the women in his life feel cherished and centered. First among his many loves was his mother, Gertha Maree who awaited him with open arms; next his “second” mom, Miss Alberta, whom he loved deeply. Acey leaves to cherish his memory his father, Acey Lovett, Jr.; his brothers Travis Thorn, Ricky Stewart (Patti), Michael Lovett-Stewart (Elise); his sisters Sharon Jackson (Marvin), Alice Tillman (Gary), Lisa Whitmore, Carolyn Stewart, Rosalind Nguessan, and Lori Green; nieces & nephews, numerous cousins, extended family, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his eldest sister Saundra. His absence from this earth diminishes its light, but his presence in our hearts means he lives forever.
