Obituary of Dave Pearson

David "Dave" Robert Pearson On Saturday, March 13, 2021 Dave Pearson passed away peacefully in his Southeast Portland home with loved ones at his side and nearby. He was 73 years old. Dave was born on November 25, 1947 in the Village Warroad in Minnesota. He was the third of five children born to Carl Donald and Roberta Lois (Johnson) Pearson. Dave was a man of many passions. He was an excellent cook and an accomplished baker. He was a long-standing member of The Baker’s Union, having been employed by Ruth Ashbrook, Quality Pie Shoppe, Mary Janes Pastries and retiring from Kroger’s. He worked hard and passed his strong work ethics down to his kids through example. Dave loved to fish, whether in one of his boats or standing on the shore, he was always happiest when he had a line in the water. He enjoyed watching wildlife documentaries and reality veterinarian programs. And he enjoyed the many long road trips that he and his sister Linda would take together. Dave has left his family with so many lasting memories to be cherished through our lifetime. His Granddaughter Nicole will always remember when she was 9yrs old she helped her Grandpa to dig a large hole in the backyard where he installed a beautiful Koi pond. Soon after he was raising Koi for profit. And when he wore a Santa Claus suit to visit daughter Wendi's elementary school classroom and even managed to have her sit on his lap without revealing that it was him. Some 25 years later he wore a Santa suit again to visit the children at Doernbecher Children's Hospital, giving away stuffed animals to kids spending their Christmas away from home. His gentle nature came through when little sister Marie wasn't allowed to keep the baby ducks he brought her, so he would have made-up stories to tell her about how big they were getting. Dave never met a person he couldn't talk to, striking up conversations with anyone, anywhere, on any subject. In doing so he touched the lives of many. Dave is survived by Sister Marie (Dave), Niece Debbie and Nephew Patrick. Sister Carole, Niece Kristy and Nephew Tracy. Brother Steve (Carol), Nieces Cathy & Carrie and Nephew Dan. Nephew Carl (Sarabeth) and Great-Niece Eliza. Daughter Melannie (Russ), Grandchildren Jake and Lindsay. Daughter Wendi, Granddaughter Nicole and Great-Grandchildren Aidan & Gabriel. Daughter Dava (Rudy). Also Grandchildren Ben, Alitrice & Dre and Great-Granddaughter Lillian. And many, many Great-Nieces & Great-Nephews. Dave is preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Sister and best friend Linda Susan, former wife Sharon; mother to Melannie and Oscar, former wife Linda Lee (Lyndee); mother to Wendi and Dava. And his Son David Oscar. The family wishes to thank family friend Teresa Parrish, spiritual adviser Mother Mary and the Peck family. Your friendship and love meant everything to Dave. A special acknowledgement of appreciation to the Kaiser Palliative Care team as well as the Kaiser Home Hospice team, your guidance and support has been immeasurable. A memorial is being planned in Dave’s honor for April 18, 2021. The details have not yet been finalized. We will post an update via Facebook soon.
