I'm so sorry for your loss. Tom got me through some rough times when I was 10 yrs.old. I was in the hospital for 7 weeks. He came to see me every week. We belonged to St. Paul's in Milwaukie. We had the best Jr. and Sr. Hi youth groups. We worked at a food bank in North Portland. we patterend a girl named Stephney with CP on weekends, and had great spaghetti dinners. We had youth Sunday exchanges with the Catholic church in Milwaukie. I was married in St. Paul's on 12/29/1973. I was so looking forward to being married by Tom. He was in Alaska . Your husband and father was the kindness person and most thoughtful person. You were so lucky to have him. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Love Always, Karlyn Roby Sorrentino.

I enjoyed visiting with Tom and Bev at church and at Willamette View. Will show the Memorial Service to Mom (Martha Butler) when I'm able to visit her soon. Coincidentally, Dad's ashes are in a niche at Wilhelm's (Madison Room). Condolences to the family.

I joined the service today and Bev and family you are in my thoughts. I had the privilege of being a next door neighbor to Tom and Bev in Wilsonville. A favorite memory was when a grandchild would come for the special time Tom and Bev spent with each. I remember being so impressed with that tradition in the family. I also benefited from support and graciousness as Tom and Bev shared in conversation when we happened to be outside. They both always left me feeling better no matter what happened to be going on or the subject of our conversation. What a blessing. Bev and family - the service was beautiful! Take care and allow yourselves extra hugs to get through this time.

Many thanks to the Whitehead family and to Portland FUMC for a beautiful service. Tom was an encouraging mentor to us in ministry and an inspiring leader in our wider United Methodist Church. We send much love to all his family and friends.

So many memories with both Bev and Tom. Not only did Tom provide opportunity for me to live out my diaconal ministry in creative ways, but it was he would paved the way for me to be Deacon in ways that I had never imagined on the Corvallis staff for 9 years. I give thanks for all Tom was and is to me. Ann Bateman

I first came to know Tom as the person with whom my mother worked when he came on the Eastern District as District Superintendent. My mother, Rita Strobel, worked as his Administrative Assistant (and the assistant to other DS's) before she became AA to Bishop McConnell. Then Tom was a supervising Mentor in the Residency in Ministry Program for the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference. Tom was always supportive in his quiet, soft-spoken way, and always keenly aware of how the Christian faith should serve people, rather than the reverse. His gentle influence touched me in ways that I probably am not fully aware of.
I send my love to the whole family.

I was advised by Rev. Tom Whitehead when President of the Sub-District Youth Council while he was in Milwaukie, and I was at Oregon City UMC. His guidance, sense of humor, and belief in youth and our questions meant a great deal to me. My condolences to his family. With gratitude, Sharon Fisher
