Obituary of Dorothy Moore

Dorothy Moore, resident of the Milwaukie, Oak Grove area for 56 years passed away Jan. 24, 2021. Dorothy was born in Gresham, Ore., and spent her childhood in N.E. Portland graduating from Parkrose High school in 1948. Dorothy’s father was Fritz Stager a carpenter who worked in the Portland shipyards and Margaret Stager a housewife and cook at Glendoveer Golf Course. Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Fred Stager, Margaret Adams, Martha Peterson; and grandson, Nick Bucher. Dorothy’s work career started as a young child in the berry fields in the Gresham area, cooking at the Glendoveer Golf Course during and after high school, followed by duties as a mother and housewife, and finally a career in the banking industry. After her retirement she was active in the Rose Society, Garden Club, volunteered at the Willamette Falls Hospital, and her Bunco groups. Dorothy’s passions were entertaining friends and family, and her beautiful gardens which were home to birds, squirrels, and ducks. Her house was always a welcoming, inviting and warm place, filled with the aroma of baked cookies, pies and lovely meals. “Eat slow and eat everything” was her guidance to family and friends. More than anything else was her love for her grandkids and great grandkids; that big yellow house was a haven for children. Dorothy is survived by her children, Patti Bucher (Bill) and David Moore (Linda); grandchildren, Katie Bucher (Sam),Ashley Ertmer (RJ), Andrea Moore (Ezra); great-grandchildren, Ollie, Hunter, Chloe, and Maxz. Private services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Oregon Food Bank. Please visit the guestbook portion of this site and enter a special memory or message. Thank you.
