Obituary of Dorris Zimbra

ZIMBRA, Dorris Mae 100 December 28, 1919, Tillamook, Oregon September 4, 2020, Portland, Oregon A private memorial gathering will be held in the loving memory of Dorris M Zimbra. Dorris will be privately laid to rest in Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Mausoleum, 6705 SE 14th Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97202. Written by Dorris M Zimbra Dorris Mae Woolfe was born in Tillamook, Oregon, on December 28th, 1919. She was sister to Leona, Faye, Vivian, Joyce “Joycie”, Larry and Glenn. She grew up in Tillamook and attended public school there. In 1939, she married George E Smith, they moved to Alabama and then Columbus, Georgia. They had one son, Donald, born in 1940. They moved back to Tillamook in April of 1941. They later divorced. January 6, 1942, she moved to Portland and worked in the Swan Island Ship Yards. In 1943, Dorris worked for Linnton Lumber Company. In 1944, she married Delbert K Mauseth. They had one daughter, Judy, and were later divorced in 1947. She returned to Portland in 1949 and worked as a waitress in the Rose City Bowl and later Palace Bowl. Following that, she owned the coffee shop located in the Boilermaker’s building. Dorris was an avid bowler and bowled in State and National Tournaments. In 1951, she sold the coffee shop and moved to Eureka, California where she met her future husband Frank Zimbra. They moved Lewiston, Idaho and changed careers. In Lewiston, Dorris worked as a grocery checker. They later moved to Longview, Washington in 1957. Mr. Zimbra worked in the logging industry as a mill worker for Weyerhauser Company and Mrs. Zimbra continued as a grocery checker. They moved to Reno, Nevada in 1959. In Reno, they were blessed with two daughters. Leilani was born 1952. Sandra was born in 1961. Mr. Zimbra sadly passed away on October 1, 1962. Dorris retired from grocery checking in 1975. She ran a day care center in her home. Dorris moved to Portland in 1977 and worked in janitorial service in 1981. She moved to a retirement home in 1982. She had many years traveling and enjoying her children and grandchildren. Her son Donald was killed in the Vietnam War. Brother Glenn died in 1984. Half-brother Larry passed away in 1982. Survivors include her daughters: Judy Ann Cone, Leilani Palmyra Seiffert, and Sandra Dee Bergio; five grandchildren: Kimmie Reedy, Dennis Pridemore, Dustin Seiffert, Michael Bergio; five great-grandchildren; half-sisters: Vivian Larson, Faye Bentley, Leona Stinson, Joyce Whitby; and many cousins. She is predeceased by her parents Floyd Charles and Rosetta Mae Cate (Hodgdon) Woolfe; her loving husband Frank Zimbra; brothers Larry and Glenn, and grandson Donald JD Durham.
