Obituary of Alison Carroll Henderson

Alison Carroll Henderson of West Linn, Oregon passed away after a long illness on February 17, 2019 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Alison was born in Lowell, Massachusetts March 28th, 1965 and was predeceased by her parents James William Carroll and Ethyl Louise Carroll. She is survived by her loving husband of thirty years, Robert Bruce Henderson, her children Kane Henderson, Shannon Henderson, Jessica Henderson and Graeme Henderson and her siblings Susan Carroll Trenholm, Lynne Carroll Simoneau, Jeffrey Carroll, and Jonathan Carroll.

While Alison has left us far too soon, those who knew her know that she made the most of every day and shared her strength, voice, and compassion freely with family, friends, and the strangers that inevitably became friends.

Alison always approached life with zest and a total commitment to everything she did. She graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in Yarmouth, MA. where she was an outstanding student and athlete.  She then attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, in Worcester, MA., majoring in engineering and spent a semester abroad in Germany.  College was also where she met the love of her life, her husband Robert Henderson.

She was deeply committed and giving to her family, community, and church. Ali lived life with an open heart and a supportive outlook. She was always in motion, attending and helping with everything everywhere for everyone. She supported many activities around the West Linn area such as cub scouts, girl scouts, and various sport teams. As a women’s lacrosse coach, she dedicated herself to her players and to developing a higher-level of safety for all women lacrosse players nationwide.

While Alison Carroll Henderson will be greatly missed by so many, her love will live on in the hearts of the countless people whose lives she has enriched with her indomitable spirit and warm smile.

A memorial service will be held on March 15th at the Lake Grove Presbyterian Church at 11AM. The family has asked that those interested in giving in Alison’s name, make donations either to the CurePSP foundation or the Society of Women Engineers scholarship chapter at Al’s Alma Mater, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
