Lynn Roseberry

Obituary of Lynn Matthias Roseberry

Born to Matthias and Lena Roseberry in 1929, Lynn always joked his birth triggered the Great Depression that year. Hard working farmers of Eastern Washington, they taught their only child a strong work ethic which he practiced all his life. He bean driving his father's tractor by age 8and by age 18 owned several trucks to haul produce. This entrepreneurial spirit finanaced 2 years at Eastern Washington State before his mother died. He took the winter off and took his dad to Long Beach California to work, a sunny paradise after Washington, hoping to cheer his spirits. Returning to the University of Washington he finished his degree in cartography and minored in geography and history which became his lifelong hobbies. In 1956 he met a young teacher who became the love of his life, Barbara Thompson, his wife of exactly 50 years. He worked as a land surveyor for the BLM in Oregon for over 30 years, based first in Porland, then in Medford. They had 2 daughters, Margaret and Amy, who later provided them with 5 wonderful grandchildren. In his many years at the BLM he surveyed almost every county in Oregon. Summers were spent climbing the mountains; winters were spent writing up the reports. He retired in 1985 and they traveled the country seeing the history and geography he enjoyed so much. By this time they purchased a "snowbird" home in Talent, Oregon and joined the pilgrimage of friends, old and new to Palm Springs, Indio, Arizona, and any dry sunny climate that eased his asthma symptoms. Many trips with children and grandchildren filled the next 10 years with warm and rich memories. In 2004 they sold their homeand moved near Amy in Eugene, where Barbara passed away in 2007. Lynn's last year was spent near Margaret in Vancouver, Washington, lovingly cared for by the staff of Guardian Angel Adult Care Home. On April 2nd he peacefully joined his beloved wife Barbara and savior Jesus Christ for eternity. Service Information
