Obituary of Joseph Burt Schwerdt

Joseph (Joe) Schwerdt was born in Portland, Oregon on December 1, 1947. He died on April 19, 2011, surrounded by his family, at Providence Portland Hospital from complications of pneumonia. Joe was the oldest of six children born to Joseph and Patricia Schwerdt. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School, Central Catholic for two years and graduated from Cleveland High School. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling. One of his fondest memories was his trip to Thailand. He was a free spirit and enjoyed time with friends. Joe enjoyed collecting things and finding a good bargain. His family referred to his finds as his "treasures". For the last eleven years, Joe was caretaker and companion to his mother, fulfilling his promise to his father to "take care of mom". He is survived by his mother, Patricia, and siblings; Linda Gorton, Tom, Paul, Tricia Hollingshed and Pam Harmon. He is also survived by three nephews; Michael, Christopher and Odie and five nieces; Brandi, Tommi Jo, Staci, Callie and Josanna. At his request, there will be no service. Service Information
