Philip Efseaff

Obituary of Philip John Efseaff

Philip John Efseaff March 19, 1953 - April 20, 2011 "Loved God more than the approval of men." California native, residing in Oregon since July 1978, Philip John Efseaff passed peacefully into the Kingdom of Heaven on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 10:00 p.m., with family members at his bedside. Philip was born in Porterville, California to John Alex and Mary Michael (Slivkoff) Efseaff. He was raised in Woodville, California until age 11 and then moved with his family to Brazil until 1965, when they returned to the United States and moved to San Marcos, California. Philip graduated from San Marcos High School in 1971 and attended Palomar Community College for two years as a Business major. On November 24, 1974, Philip married his best friend and life mate, Ludmilla Michael Vinogradoff, in Los Angeles, California. Philip sold real estate and worked in real estate development. After moving to Oregon in 1978, Phil became a small business owner, first as a small building contractor and then as President and General Manager of YQPC Business Printing in Portland, Oregon from 1980 to 2008. In November of 2008, he partnered with Marsha Lee of Copy Express until the Lord called him home. Many business colleagues will remember Phil for his outstanding dedication to serving his customers with a "beyond the call of duty" attention to customer service and satisfaction. He always regarded his customers with the utmost respect, as a blessing, sent to him by God. Phil appreciated several music genres but especially enjoyed the Blues (one artist among many that he favored was Paul Rodgers). Phil always encouraged his children to love music and supported their interests in musical instruments, vocal development, and public performance, both secular and sacred. Philip enjoyed cooking for family and friends-he was a "grillmaster extraordinaire." His home was typically a combination of the incredible aromas of a wood-fired barbeque and the joyful sounds of family and friends, including nine grandchildren. Surviving family include his wife, Ludmilla; children: Bill and Anastasia Weide, Lukian and Karli Efseaff, Kurt and Kristina Schell, Taisa Efseaff; grandchildren: Allison Jean Weide, David William Weide, Evan Louis Weide; Owen Philip Efseaff, Savannah Noelle Efseaff, Emma Laurelle Efseaff; Isaiah Matthew Schell, Levi Christian Schell, and Noah Gabriel Schell. The family of Philip John Efseaff wishes to thank each precious soul-family and friends and people we have never met-who supported us through prayer, encouraging visits, letters, e-mails, phone calls, and financial gifts. A heartfelt "thank you" to Multnomah County employees who donated their own personal vacation time to make it possible for Ludmilla to stay at home and care for Phil during his medical treatments and convalescence for esophageal cancer. Many thanks to the dedicated Kaiser Permanente family of medical providers for their compassion and care. We thank the Hopewell Hospice House for their extraordinary compassion and tender care during Philip's last 24 hours of life. Special thanks to Pastor Dennis Friesen, Pastor Gerry Smith, Music Pastor Ben Sadler, and our entire Grace Community Church family. We extend appreciation to Rick McCarthy, Funeral Director, Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes and to Nicholas Hammerling of Forest Lawn Cemetery.
