Janice Benintendi

Obituary of Janice Benintendi

Jan was born in Portland to Art and Doris VanDyke. She was the second out of five with two brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Gaston High School in 1978 and went to Northwest Bible College in Kirkland Washington from 1978 to 1980 graduating with an Associate Degree. She married her husband Tim Benintendi in 1980 in Salem Oregon. After five years in Salem she then moved to the Portland metro area with her husband for the next 27 years. She was a mother to David and Kristin and was very active in their lives and loved them dearly. She also had a career of 30 years working with computers, accounting software, and bookkeeping. Half of her working years involved 15 years working in the Beaverton School District IT Department and the last 10 years as the accounting and bookkeeping controller of their family owned business. Jan was active in her church congregations over the many years and was involved for a number of years, teaching Sunday school, a young women's group as well as a junior bible quiz group. She enjoyed her work along with her family, her church family and anyone that knew her. Her smile, gentle demeanor and kind words always brought encouragement to anyone that she encountered. She had a rare quality of making everyone around her feel important and blessed for having known her. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all those that ever knew her. To my beautiful wife Jan: I will never be the same without you honey. I will miss the way you cared about everyone that crossed your path along life's journey. You were an inspiration to me each and every day that we had in our 32 years of marriage. You always seemed to have the right solution to any problem we faced and would always bring out the good in others. You have been loved by so many for your caring approach to all those around you. We will miss you dearly with your early promotion to heaven. Kristin and David will miss you in the coming years as there are many more life events to come. There are school projects to be involved with, sporting events to support, graduations, marriages, grand kids, and major life achievements. For me I will live each day as a Dad in honor of your memory hoping to be as outstanding as you have been. I will lean on God's direction on how to navigate the days, months and years ahead. You are now in the presence of the Lord with your parents and my parents watching us from above. When Kristin, David and I are having an especially good day and maybe even do something really outstanding we'll look up to the heavens and say "Hey Honey, Hey Mom that was for you" and the heavenly skies will be a little brighter. I will remember the way that you would always laugh at my dry sense of humor even when I really wasn't all that funny. You would even laugh at an occasional blonde joke. This was even after I told you to stop laughing at yourself "blondie". How will we cope in our daily lives without you? By God's grace, day by day and knowing that we will see you again when we all get to heaven. What a day, a glorious day that will be. Thank you, thank you for the many years that you shared with us and thanks for being a best friend, a great mom, a constant helper, an encourager and an example of what a godly woman is really like. From your loving husband, I will always love you and will never forget all that we shared on our journey together. I'll see you in heaven some day and until then I will always love you.
