Obituary of Lela Sharon Penrod

Sharon passed on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM. It was a beautiful fall day, the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. It was the weather my mom loved. Sharon passed with her beloved husband, Charles, at her side holding her hand, calling her sugar baby and teling her how much he loved her and letting her know it was OK to go. Sharon's daughter in law Terri had been camped by her side throughout her short stay in teh hospital. Terri stood vigilant, constantly letting Sharon know how much she was loved as well as it was OK to go home. Sharon's son & daughter Mark and Teresa were with her, comforting her. Her grandson Aaron & his girlfriend Chelsea were also present. On Saturday evening lifelong friend, Arlene Lucier, called and told her that God was waiting and the path was clear and it was OK to go. Sharon's granddaughter Jill and great grandson Braxton spoke with her on teh phone, which made my mom very happy. She said to tell Jill & Aaron that she loved them very much and to please live a happy life. Sharon was born on February 11, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska. She later moved to Kodiak, in the Alaska Territory. It was there in 1957 she met and married her husband Charles on December 28, 1957. Her son Mark was born in 1958 and their daughter Teresa was born in 1959. In 1961 the family moved to Pinetop, Arizona where Charles worked on Fort Apache Indian Reservation. In 1962 the family then moved to Medford, Oregon where Charles was employed with the V.A. Sharon always stood by his side. In 1974 the family moved to Vancouver, Washington and in 1976 to Phoenix, Arizona. Mark & Teresa graduated high school in 1977. In 1979 Charles and Sharon packed it up and moved to Chinle, Arizona and lived on a Navajo Reservation. Sharon and Charles came back to the Pacific Northwest in 1982. They lived in Roseburg, Vancouver and Portland. Sharon loved her husband with all her heart. On Saturday she told Mark, Terri and Teresa that we needed to take care and support our dad. We promised we would. She told us how lucky she was to have such a special man but also how lucky he was to have such a loving and devoted woman. Sharon is survived by her husband Charles, her son Mark and his wife Terri, along with their son adn daughter Aaron & Jill and Jill's son Braxtonand her daughter Teresa (me). Sharon's little brother Jon Copsey, his wife Beatrice and their many children & children's children. Sharon loved going to the ocean, listening to the waves and breathing the sea breeze. She loved her two little dogs, Casey & Cody, and they loved her just as much. There have been a few little ones that captivated their hearts. Bebe, Magnum, Cocoa, Missy. We let Mom know that she had quite the crew ready to welcome her adn that her mom & dad & grandmother would be there as well.Sharon's eyes were donated to give someone else the gift of vision. I love you Mom, I am so sorry for your suffering and I hope you have found peace and the pain is gone. Service Information
