Obituary of Darrel Jay Jessup

Darrel Jessup Died peacefully October 26, 2012 in the home of his sister Sandi, who was at his side, after a year fight with cancer. He was born to Eldon Jessup and Lorraine (McHenry) Jessup on March 13, 1951 in Portland and spent all his life in Oregon. From the time he was a able to walk he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, grandfather and friends. He joined Troop 60 of the Cub Scouts, earned the Eagle Scout award and went on to be the Scout Master of the same troop. He never married but took on a wayward scout in hopes of turning him around to the right path. He supported that scout and raised his daughter Brittany Seastrom and two granddaughters Mariah & Mylee Anthony. Darrel went to Benson and studied printing, when he graduated he did his apprenticeship at Portland Printing. From there he was employed by Graphic Arts for 32 years as a Camera Stripper then a Lithographer. He enjoyed the monthly poker parties he had with his coworkers. He also loved the Blazers and went to home games when he had the opportunity. He was preceded by his mother, father, grandparents and aunt. He left behind his sisters Terry Kistner (Richard) of Warren and Sandi (Rand) Stewart of Portland;Uncles Mike (Barb) McHenry and Dan McHenry; Cousins Stephen Peake (Gail) & Judi Peake Singer; Nieces, Kristine (Bill) Thorpe , Kim (Todd) Hedrick, Lisa (Morgan) Taylor and Nicole (Neil) Cooper, Nephew Ron (Aure-Lee) Kistner; Ten Grand Nieces and Four Grand nephews; Five Great grand nieces and Two Great grandnephews. Not to forget his dogs Fatboy and Peanut. He has been cremated and on his birthday we will spread his ashes at the beach. For those who wish to pay their respects we had his name added to our parents headstone and a memento placed inside. This is located at Wilhelm Portland Memorial in the Faith section. We love our brother and will miss him greatly. Private gathering of family and close friends will be held November 10, 2012 .
