Marjorie Seaman

Obituary of Marjorie Seaman

Marjorie W. Seaman, 71, of Happy Valley, OR died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Ray Hickey Hospice House of Vancouver, WA after a courageous battle with the horrible disease of cancer. Marge was born on January 10, 1941 in Birmingham, AL to Thomas and Marjorie (Law) Warnell. She was raised a southern girl and spent 4 years in Panama as a teenager while her Dad worked on the Panama Canal. She moved to Washington, D.C. at the age of 19 to work for the congressman from her district. It was there that she met her future husband Bob Seaman, a native of Faulkton, SD. They were married on October 14, 1961 in Birmingham. They moved to Pierre, SD and eventually settled in Aberdeen, SD where they made their home for 25 years. Although Marge always complained about the cold she knew there were few places better suited to raise children. They moved from Aberdeen to Yakima, WA in 1990 where they lived for 7 years before moving to the Portland area. She spent a good portion of her professional career in the medical field working for Dakota Midland in Aberdeen, Providence in Yakima and Kaiser in Portland. She retired as manager of the Rockwood and Gresham Dental Clinics. She loved traveling and she and Bob toured the world together. Both loved to go on cruises and in 2008 nearly the entire family enjoyed a cruise to Mexico. She made 2 trips to China and 1 to India with her sister Penny for the adoption of Penny's children. Spending time at the beach at Gearhart by the Sea was also a favorite activity. Her family and friends brought her much joy. She is survived by her loving husband Bob, children Stacy Swenson of Yakima, WA, Robert J. "Jack" (Aubrey) Seaman of Fargo, ND, sister Penny Warnell (Frank Hartley) of Beaverton, OR, and Grandchildren Jordan, Alex, Robbie and Marisa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Asa and Marjorie L. Warnell and her brother Tom (Buddy) Warnell. Service Information
