Obituary of Mildred Lucille Gerg

Mildred was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to William and Lillian Hook. She was the 4th born in a family of 9 children. Her siblings being: Mable Williams, Walt, John, Marian Day, William, Louis, Lilli Hall and Raymond. Remaining siblings are: Marian Day, Louis Hook, Lilli Hall and Raymond Hook. Mildred remained in Council Bluffs, Iowa until her early 20’s when she and her two children moved to Portland, Oregon with her parents. She worked in the ship yards for a short time before her employment at Chase Bag Company in NW Portland. After spending several years there, she was able to secure a job as an accounting assistant with International Shipping Company. She remained with International Shipping until her retirement in the 80’s. Mildred had three children, Virginia Page, Harold Plough, Linda LaFollette and a step daughter, Linda France. Preceding her in death were Virginia Page and Linda France. She had several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was married to Jerome A. Gerg in 1961. The two of them resided in Beaverton. Together they enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, family, friends and playing cards. In the 80’s they moved to Huntington , Oregon. In Huntington, they enjoyed the company of many close friends and were active in two churches in town. After her husband passed in 1995, she moved back to Portland and lived with her daughter, Linda and son in law, Del. She lived the last month of her life in Cornerstone Care Options; she went from there to be with her Father in Heaven.
