FRANK D. TURCHY Also known as FRANCESCO D. TURCHIAROLO May 4, 1927 – December 5, 2013 86 Years Born in Ferruzzano, Calabria, Italy, Frank was the first son and fourth child of six children of Giuseppe Turchiarolo and Paola Foti.At the age of 11, Frank started his apprenticeship to his mastery as a wood worker craftsman. At the age of 18 he left home to seek work in France. He lived, worked and bicycled in Paris for the next five years. Finally after a long wait he left Europe by ship to his new life in United States. He settled in Portland, Oregon,where he found work as custom cabinet maker. On a visit home to Italy in 1957, where he at first sight fell in love with the beautiful woman that became his wife and the love of his life. He was blessed with three children that he adored. Frank worked until he retired from the Charles Grant Company in 1990. He was known as a custom woodworker, craftsman, gardener, teacher,inventor, and all around great man. He had a love for all sports especially soccer and American football. He made his own sausages, cured meats, wine, and cured olives. He loved his garden and wouldn’t plant a tree if it didn’t provide fruit. What he loved most was his family, especially his grandchildren and was so proud that he was able to meet and hold his new great granddaughter. He was the favorite uncle of all of his nieces and nephews around the world. He was kind, humble, and never quick to judge. He was very wise and always knew just what to say and when it needed to be said. He was the rock of his familyand never let his illness keep him from living his life to the fullest. He showed his strength up to his last breath where he was surrounded by the family that loved and adored him. Frank is survived by his wife of 56 years, Tecla, his children Paula and husband Rick Edwards; Joe Turchiarolo and wifeKendra; Trish Turchiarolo-Vanoni and husband Shawn Vanoni; Grand Children: Devan Edwards; Isabella Turchiarolo; Giancarlo Turchiarolo; Armando Vanoni and Lorenzo Vanoni; Great Grand Daughter Fiona McCabe.
