Obituary of Howard Bancroft Webb

Howard Bancroft Webb, 92, of Portland, OR died at home on December 10th, 2013. Howard was born in Portland, OR on April 9, 1921 and attended school in Portland and Tigard. In July 1939 he started work for the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway and retired in 1981 from the Burlington Northern Railroad after 42 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945 as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army 1090th Signal Corps AB attached to the 5th Air Force in the South Pacific. After returning to Portland after the war he met the love of his life, Jean Shirley Lindahl. Howard and Jean were married July 31, 1948 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Howard was a long time member of the Beaverton Elks Lodge #1989 and the Sons of the American Revolution. He enjoyed traveling, genealogy research, gardening, working in his shop, and laughing with friends and family. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Loren A Webb and Corinne (Fogle) Webb, and his brother Norman A Webb, all of Tigard. He is survived by his wife Jean, and nieces and nephews. A service will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, December 17, at Wilhelm’s Portland Memorial Funeral Home. Service Information
