Obituary of Betty Ruth Polinsky

Betty Polinsky (Burgess, Johnson, Botel) December 25th, 1928 - December 24th, 2013 Betty was born in Portland, OR December 25 1928. She was a Christmas gift for her parents, Lillian Josephine (Weeks) and Floyd Francis Burgess. She Returned to Heaven December 24th 2013. She suffered a stroke early Saturday and did not recover. She was the first of seven children; Bob, William (Billy), Eleanor (Elly), Walter (Buddy), Donald (Babe), and Doris. She attended Creston Grade School in Portland, OR and Western High School. As a teenager she moved to Baltimore, MD for two years and then returned to Portland. A few years later she and Earl (Bud) Johnson were married. They had three children, Beverly, Linda and David. Betty had 9 grandchildren; Robert (Bobby), Jodi, Jeff, Michael, Dawn, Chad, Lori, Corey and Sara and many great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She also left behind her two babies; Annie and Heidi, who she loved as if they were her kids. After her first husband Earl died, Betty married Dwight Botel. They built a successful life and were able to do some traveling. She was able to see England, The Caribbean and Alaska on cruise vacations. She also took a cross country trip to South Dakota and saw Mt. Rushmore. She took several trips to California and Nevada. She did enjoy seeing the amazing things this world had to offer. Throughout the years Betty loved to do ceramics, crochet and she made beautiful Victorian lampshades. She loved to cook and was very good at it. She enjoyed going to the casinos with her husband Norb. Sometimes she would come home happy, sometimes not!!! After Dwight's death, Betty married Norbert Polinsky. They retired and moved to Henderson, Nevada for several years before returning home to be closer to her children. She passed away one day short of her 85th birthday with her children by her side. A memorial service will be held January 4th at 3:00 pm at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial Funeral Home 6705 SE 14th Ave, Portland, OR 97202. Service Information
