Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Stocks

Mary Elizabeth Stocks Stocks, Elizabeth 94 Nov. 18, 1919 Feb. 20, 2014 Elizabeth Stocks passed away Feb. 20, 2014. She was born Nov. 18, 1919, in Portland, to Alberry and Oneonta George. She lived her entire life in Portland except for a brief time in Eugene. She graduated from Grant High School in 1937. While working at U.S. Bank, Elizabeth met Robert Eugene Stocks and they were married in 1941. The first of three sons was born the following year and Elizabeth devoted herself to raising a growing family, interspersed with working as school secretary at Wilson High School and later, Edison Elementary School in Eugene and for Pacific Northwest Bell. Through her unconditional love and service, she touched countless lives. She was active in Telephone Pioneers, Philanthropic Educational Organization, International Graphoanalysis Society, Cedar Mill Bible Church, Royal Family Kids Camp and Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Bob. She is survived by her sons, Gary, Rob and Brian; grandchildren, Jessica Canessa and Grant; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Hadley and Hazel Canessa. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, a more gentle, selfless and loving woman had never lived. A viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, and Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Wilhelm's Portland Memorial, 6705 S.E. 14th Ave. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Cedar Mill Bible Church, 12208 N.W. Cornell Road, Portland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Royal Family Kids Camp at the church. Service Information
