Obituary of Richard Allan Larie

Richard (Rick) Allan Larie, was born on June 10th, 1953 in Portland, Oregon. Rick went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Monday March 3rd, 2014. Rick is survived by his wife Teresa Kay Larie; daughter Jennifer (Jeremiah) Alexander; step daughters Samantha Reid and Angela (Kirk) Davee; grandchildren Cody, Kalee, Christian Alexander; step grandchildren Austin, Kody, Jasper and Tristan. Sister Mary (Dave) Place, niece Candice Stevenson, nephew Stephen (Megan) Place; great nephew Kyle; four brothers and sister-in-laws, eleven step nieces and nephews; and adopted family. He is preceded in death by an adopted Father and Mother, Charles Howard and Kathleen Gill Larie; brother Ronald Larie; several aunts and uncles both natural and adopted. Rick grew up in Portland, Oregon living with his sister Mary, brother Ronald and his adopted family. He was raised going to church since he was four years of age. As a youngster Rick would spend summers in Dufur, Oregon on a relatives acreage, fishing in the stream behind the barn catching the limit within minutes, swimming at the local in ground swimming pool. He graduated Centennial (Gresham) High School in 1971, while in high school he joined the swim team, he was an avid swimmer, continuing all thru high school. Rick joined the US Navy in March 1976, after 6 years of serving this country he did not re-in list and was Honorably discharged. While in the Navy, he joined the Navy church ministry. Went with a ministry group to Hawaii and ministered to the youth also learned how to surf while there and continued surfing in Oregon (until last year). He played guitar, drums and piano at church in his twenties. He became a certified electrician and worked for several different companies through the local union, and at two different times had opened his own electrical business. He also liked water and snow skiing; motorcycle riding and really fast boats (which he had several at different times in his life). Rick loved spending time with the grandchildren when time allowed and spending time with people. Rick really loved the Lord and was already serving HIM and desiring to be in ministry and travel when he meet Teresa (finding out her hearts desire was the same as his). A new journey in ministry and travel began for Rick. Going to Fiji for two weeks, swimming and snorkeling in the ocean. Put together a Prophetic conference in 2010; volunteering with Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship (Clackamas, Oregon chapter) going to meetings and helping in 'The GOD mobile' (reaching souls for the Lord); going to Israel, Italy, Greece and Egypt for two weeks with a church group. His desire and dedication of being in a more intimate relationship, serving the Lord in ministry here and in other countries especially Africa. Rick was currently working with a team on a newly formed Christian foundation called "A Foundation called Legacy". Rick loved playing his guitar and the upright grand piano (Teresa brought into their Troutdale home) and would play quite often. He also loved cooking dinners for the two of them, sometimes taking two hours (he liked to take his time), when the meal was done he would say "Wow, the food was really good and it's gone already, all that time, effort, eaten and enjoyed in 20 minutes, no wonder you do not always feel like doing anything after you cook especially after working all day". He would usually want to go out to dinner rather then to have either us cook. His favorite foods are: Spaghetti, Salmon, T-bone steak and potato salad; favorite restaurant's are: Resorante Di Pompello, Chinese Happiness, Old Spaghetti Factory. Flowers were also a favorite especially the 'Passion Lily'. Contributions may be made to the Foundation Called Legacy at 2198 SE Douglas Place; Gresham, Oregon 97080. 503-235-5806 Service Information
