Gordon David

Obituary of Gordon Wayne David

Gordon W. David was born in Portland, Oregon August 1, 1950. He grew up in Portland and the Seattle area. He attended Portland Community College and the University of Oregon. When he was seventeen he joined the Coast and Geodetic Oceanic Service (Now known as NOAA) and became a sailor on a research ship. He traveled to many places over the next two years. After leaving the service in Florida he sold encyclopedias all across the United States until ending up back in Portland. One of his first jobs was as a bookkeeper at NARA and then later as a Counselor at the Urban Indian Program in Portland. He soon learned that he preferred being his own boss and so he purchased a service station, Coliseum Texaco. He also owned and operated a couple of other businesses, but in 1987 he started Avatar Quantified Co., which he owned until his death. Gordon had a pilot’s license and loved to fly. After flying for a time in the 1970’s he had to give it up but began flying again 3 or 4 years ago and enjoyed every minute of it. Gordon was a member of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation (Wasco), and leaves an Aunt and several cousins there. Gordon also leaves his wife of over 40 years, Janice and his Mother Barbara Keshtoo.
