Obituary of Michael David Naugle

Michael (Mike) David Naugle March 11, 1953 - April 7, 2014 Mike was born in Akron, Ohio to Donald and Mary Lou Naugle. He grew up in the Cuyahoga Falls Ohio, the oldest of six children. Mike joined the USAF where he met his wife, Mary. Mike and Mary married in 1975 in Maine. They moved to California shortly after they married, and lived in the Sacramento, then later Atwater until 1994 when Mike retired from the Air Force. After Mike retired from the Air Force they moved to Portland, Oregon. Mike attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Elementary School, Walsh Jesuit High School and Stow High School. After high school Mike travelled across country working his way towards the west coast until he joined the Air Force in 1972. After Mike joined the US Air Force he worked in their Bomber Navigation squad and later in the Haz-Mat unit. Throughout his USAF career he was stationed in Loring AFB in Limestone, Maine, Mather AFB in Sacramento, California and Castle AFB in Atwater California. Mike was stationed at Castle AFB from 1983 until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement from the USAF he worked for the US Postal Service and Kroger Corp. Mike had a great sense of adventure and enjoyed traveling. After retiring he made four trips to Ireland also touring through England, Athens Greece, Crete and Sicily, often wandering in a rented car with no set direction in mind, he said he found the best things to see that way. He also travelled through North America visiting over half the United States with special trips to Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Yosemite and other national parks or landmarks. In the last few years of his life Mike became interested in photography and loved taking pictures of his travels. Mike enjoyed bowling and golf, until a knee injury made it difficult to play. He had at one time considered joining the Senior Professional Bowling tour and had multiple ‘perfect’ 300 score games. He would always take time to teach someone willing to learn either sport and enjoyed doing so. Mike is survived by his wife Mary, children Julie Terry (Jason), David (Crystal), James and Will; 5 grandchildren; Cheyenne, Gwendolynn, Brenna, Lucas and Jordan; 5 siblings Nancy, Cathy, Bart, Pat and Donald. Mike loved children and was so proud to be a grandfather, always excited to show them new things.
